What’s Included:

  • Continuous phone/email/text support from date of hire through birth and two weeks postpartum

  • Access to an extensive local and online resource list

  • She will be on-call for your birth two weeks before your due date and until baby is born. This can change, of course, as your due date approaches.

  • Once you are admitted to the hospital or are checked in to the birth center or a home birth, she will meet you and stay with you until baby is born, up to 24 hours. She generally stay anywhere from 1 - 2 hours after birth.

  • One (1) postpartum check at your home

  • She types up a birth story that goes over all the details from the moment she joins you to the moment she leaves. Something you can cherish, look back on, and help you recall the events of your birth

  • During births, she always takes photos to help capture as many moments as possible!

METHOD OF PREPARATION

I practice the Traditional Chinese method of placenta preparation. The placenta is prepared in a way that maximizes its replenishment of the tremendous loss of heat and qi that occurs after birth. During preparation, the cord and membranes are removed, the placenta is rinsed, then lightly steamed with ginger. lemon, and jalapeno. It is then sliced thinly and laid out to dehydrate. Once dehydration is complete, the placenta strips are ground into a fine powder and encapsulated for easy storage and consumption.

POSTPARTUM REMEDY

The consumption of placenta is a centuries-old practice used to help restore physical and emotional balance after giving birth. It involves steaming, dehydrating, and encapsulation of the placenta, making consumption palatable and easy. There is no “hard” research proving the benefits of consuming placenta. However, qualitative studies and their reported benefits from those who have taken their encapsulated placenta say they experience:

  • improved milk supply

  • more balanced moods

  • reduced anxiety

  • increased energy during their postpartum recover

Placenta Encapsulation - $250 by Lauren

WHAT TO EXPECT

I process your placenta in my own at-home lab while you recover and bond with your baby. The finished capsules are hand delivered to you within a few days. Your capsules will come packaged with detailed instructions on recommended dosage and storage.

  • Once you are admitted to the hospital or are checked in to the birth center, we will meet you and stay with you until baby is born, up to 24 hours. We generally stay 1-2 hours after birth.

  • Two (2) postpartum checks at your home, including a one (1) hour Mama Reiki session

  • We type up a birth story that goes over all the details from the moment we join you to the moment we leave. Something you can cherish, look back on, and help you recall the events of your birth.

  • Two (2), two hour, postpartum checks at your home, including a Postpartum depression screening. Katie has experience in administering and scoring the PHQ-9 and can refer you to your healthcare provider if total score on the screener indicates further assessment by a licensed professional.

  • We type up a birth story that goes over all the details from the moment we join you to the moment we leave. Something you can cherish, look back on, and help you recall the events of your birth.

  • During births, we always take photos to help capture as many moments as possible.

  • Katie also offers hourly postpartum day and NIGHT shifts!
